It is so important that people spay and neuter their animals, especially if they let them roam outside.
According to the ASPCA, it is nearly impossible to determine how many stray animals there are in the United States, but it is estimated that there are roughly 70 million stray cats.
Neutering and spaying animals will cut down on the number of animals that are killed in shelters, starving on the streets, and nearly dying from hot and cold weather.
Violet was found taking shelter under a car on a 100-degree day. Despite the heat, Violet was still a very sweet girl once she warmed up to her rescuers.
After a bit of prodding and offering of food, Violet came out from under the car. It is unclear if Violet belonged to anyone, but if she had, they hadn’t cared for in a while. She was covered in pounds of matted fur, fleas, and ticks.
When Hope For Paws brought her in, they found that not only was this girl covered in a mess of fur, she was severely dehydrated and anemic.
Lucky for Violet, she was able to get the treatment she needed to survive, but not every animal does. After a lot of TLC, Violet pulled through, though she was completely shaved to tackle her health issues.
If you are happy to know that Violet has been rescued, you will also love Lazarus, a dog who had 35 pounds of fur shaved off after he was saved.
